In the June issue of Consumer Reports chiropractic care has been found to be an effective alternative for back pain compared to medical treatment! In the magazine they cite the American College of Physicians who recommend that active treatments like chiropractic and even Yoga and Tai Chi can prove to be an effective (and perhaps even cheaper) hands-on plan than to take drugs and go into surgery. Consumer Reports surveyed 3,562 back-pain sufferers and of them chiropractors were  83 percent more helpful to compared the 64 percent for a primary care doctor. They also inform that on average, 38 percent would spend less than 100 dollars and 11 percent would spend 100 to 1000 dollars or more for the total expenses spent out of pocket.

CR also mentions low-level therapy as a great alternative as well. Learn more about low level therapy in a previous post here. One of the best benefits of this treatment is that it’s great for people who are sensitive to heat and anything that involves heating up the location where the pain  is.
